After one week in the barrel, my whiskey has already taken on a caramel color and aroma. Can’t say as much for the taste, but I’ll check back in another seven days…

Just when I’d congratulated myself for making it through a weekend of record-breaking heat with no elevator, and counting down the days until the date when I thought the elevator would be back up and running (7/29), I get this note from the building’s management company:
Please be advised that the elevator installation is on schedule to be completed on July 29. Though the elevator installation will be completed on the 29th it will not be operational until it has been inspected by the city on August 1. We anticipate the elevator being in service the evening of August 1. We apologize for any inconveniences.
Gaaahh.
